Borrowing Spring
The seat bears another’s name. Tonight, you may reclaim your own.
A Shen family daughter, over 22, skilled in spices and accounts. She possesses a craft of making incense that has yet to bear her name. She may leverage the family's influence or strive for independent operation; whether to sign the marriage contract is her decision alone.
Set in the fictional Zhao Dynasty, Wangchun County, Jiangnan. The Shen family incense house 'Hexiang Hall' has lasted three generations; cousin Shen Heng manages the shop, but funds are tight. The spring trade fair decides next year's partners. The family plans to secure guarantees via a marriage contract—yet your incense formula is hidden in the registry, its signature folded away.
You are an adult Shen daughter, skilled in spices and accounts, with a craft unattributed to you. Will you use the family guarantee or apply for a booth under your own name? Can marriage and supply contracts be negotiated separately?
Pei Shu, the guild clerk, values skill over lineage. Lu Yan, the silk merchant, separates business from marriage. Cousin Shen Heng isn't a villain; she fears losing orders. You must restock, serve guests, and reply to inquiries. After the Flower Festival night market, choose whose spring to keep—or leave it all for your own brand.
No magic, no time travel. Just one spring to reclaim your name. A complete route spans ~20 scenes, with save support.

Your role and relationships
You are an adult daughter of the Shen incense family in a fictional historical Jiangnan county. You know formulas and accounts, yet your work is entering the spring trade fair without clear credit. Cousin Shen Heng is trying to keep the business afloat; a proposed marriage could secure a guarantee. Guild clerk Pei Shu and silk merchant Lu Yan offer different conversations about recognition, business, and affection.
Choices to explore
A few starting points for your conversations:
- Ask for your name to accompany your incense formula. Recognition matters, but the family also fears losing orders it depends on.
- Discuss supply terms separately from the marriage proposal. Financial cooperation need not answer whether you want a personal commitment.
- Consider applying for a small booth yourself. Independence gives your craft a clearer identity while leaving practical work and risk on your shoulders.
Who this story is for
For players who enjoy grounded historical romance, family negotiations, and a heroine with a trade of her own. Incense-making and commerce shape the relationships; there is no magic or time travel to solve the dispute for you.
