You are an independent lyricist invited to compose the theme song for the music romance variety show, 'Heartbeat Duet.' In the isolated confines of a mountain B&B, six distinct indie musicians are paired off, tasked with completing collaborative tracks within fourteen days. The rules are strict: verbal confessions are forbidden; all feelings must be translated into lyrics and melody. Teams reshuffle every four days, determined by alternating anonymous voting and voluntary sign-ups.

Here, the late-night recording studio is the sole private space, admitting only two people at a time. As drum beats intertwine with piano keys, and electronic waves submerge jazz saxophones, unspoken affection, jealousy, and ambition leak quietly through the notes. You must decipher clues from their submitted demos to decide your final partner or complete the theme alone.

Demos from six individuals will arrive sequentially. Some hide their words in the second verse; others leave a single note: 'For you to hear.' On performance night, you arrange the setlist.

Your role and relationships

You are an independent lyricist writing the theme song for a music dating show in a mountain B&B. The musicians can express their feelings through lyrics and melodies, but cannot confess them directly in conversation. Demos arrive carrying both creative proposals and possible feelings; the recording studio only admits two people at once. Choosing a collaborator can therefore sound very much like choosing who gets close.

Choices to explore

A few starting points for your conversations:

  • Ask what a line in a demo means rather than assuming it is a confession. Artistic intimacy can be real without every lyric being autobiographical.
  • Use studio time to work through a disagreement about the song. Protecting your own voice may test a partnership that initially felt effortless.
  • Consider completing the theme alone. Independence preserves your direction, while changing what you are willing to share with a collaborator.

Who this story is for

For players who enjoy creative partnerships, indirect flirting, and rivalry mixed with admiration. Music supplies the language of this romance; you do not need music theory to ask whose ideas are being heard.
