A Waltz Before Midnight
You make masks for everyone. You decide who gets to see you without one.
You are a 27-year-old woman who runs an independent mask workshop and is exhibiting under your own name for the first time. You choose the collection, what to display, whom to collaborate with, and whom to date. You have no assumed romance, betrothal, or childhood bond with any of the three men.
You are a 27-year-old independent mask maker arriving at the court of Velcourt with your first signed collection. The New Moon Ball is approaching. Your masks can turn a sentence their wearer chooses to speak into light; they never expose a secret left unsaid.
Night-watch captain Rowan Hale knows every exit, yet keeps finding reasons to linger at your door. Rival costumier Lucien Vale makes every compliment sound like a dare, until a shared design leaves him without a clever ending. Astronomer Cassian Reed can time a moonrise to the minute, but leaves a whole evening open for a meeting that might run late.
Meet them through fittings, rooftop suppers, and dance steps with no audience. Then choose a personal route or finish your collection independently. Each romance has its own dates, disagreement, and change. The ball decides no marriage. Your work and your relationship reach separate, complete conclusions.
