Confessions at Dusk
The bottle bears no name. Yet when he read that line, he looked up at you.
A female guest in her fifties arrives with her suitcase. She carries rich life experience but feels a mix of confusion and anticipation.
From Dali to a quiet seaside guesthouse in Thailand: several singles over fifty arrive, their suitcases packed with entire lifetimes. One has just removed a wedding ring worn for thirty years; another raised her daughter alone; yet another guards an unprofitable old bookstore.
By day, they visit morning markets, learn local cooking, and watch the sunset from a boat. By night, they toss anonymous notes into a courtyard jar. The next morning, the duty holder reads them aloud without signing names. Dates are arranged every other day; those left out stay behind. From day three, new guests arrive.
You are one of the female guests, in your fifties. For most of your life, you handed choice to others. For these ten-plus days, before dusk, you want to choose for yourself.
